MCNALLY LOOKS TO CONTINUE UTE PROGRESS IN QLD
16 July 2008
Glenn McNally will call upon experience gained two weeks ago in Darwin in an attempt to snare his first podium in the ultra-competitive V8 Utes Series at Queensland Raceway this weekend.
McNally put his strong form at Darwin down to the benefits of the new VE Ute along with a huge focus on doing his homework on the track before and during the meeting.
“It really helped to do a couple of track walks to look closely at the surface and race lines at Darwin,” McNally said.
Having never raced at Queensland Raceway before Glenn faces the challenge of having to master the circuit in a short time.
“I will be following the same plan as I did in Darwin and hopefully it will have even better results now that I am a bit more comfortable in the VE Ute.”
Having his brother, Mark, racing in the Fujitsu V8’s at the same round will really help Glenn this weekend.
“Mark was a great help at Darwin and he has never driven that track before.
“With him racing at the same circuit this weekend we can help each other with our experiences on track and hopefully go faster as a result.”
Despite the disappointing end to Glenn’s Darwin round, where he broke his steering after contact in the final race, the West Australian is upbeat about the progress he has made this year.
“I like to get out there and have a go,’ Glenn said.
“Now that I have the latest model car and a few rounds under my belt I am a lot more confident about getting the maximum from myself.”
