MCNALLY STORMS TO TOP-TEN UTE FINISH AT QUEENSLAND RACEWAY

Glenn McNally made the most of his opportunities in the V8 Utes at Queensland Raceway today ending the meeting on a high with 6th overall after impressive drives in both Race 2 and Race 3.

As a result of finishing 16th in Race 1 yesterday Glenn started the reverse-top-16 from Grid 1 today.

After a brilliant start Glenn took the lead and held onto it for seven laps before being overtaken by Grant Johhnson and George Miedeckie with just 4 laps remaining.

“I overcame the nerves of starting from Grid 1 and was really happy with how I drove in that race,” Glenn said.

“A couple of the faster guys got past towards the end but I held my own and ended up third on the track.”

A penalty given to Miedecke elevated Glenn to second place in that race and gave him 4th grid position for the final race.

Race 3 proved to be what Glenn described as his “toughest yet” as he battled race-long with all the fast guys of the series.

“At the end of that race I certainly knew I had been racing,” Glenn said.

“For the entire race I was fighting for position with someone while defending another, it was a real racing experience.”

Glenn finished sixth in the race just behind series leader Layton Cranbrook which also gave him sixth for the meeting.

“When I consider where I was on Friday and in qualifying the result is awesome.

“It is good to keep moving forward after a slow start to the weekend which is something that I might have to get used to with so many new tracks for me this year.

“The team gave me a great car this weekend; I have now had three top-ten finishes in the categor,y and another that should have been, so I could not be happier with my progress.

Glenn’s next V8 ute meeting is at Victoria’s Winton Raceway in two weeks.
