MCNALLY LIMITED BY ENGINE AT EASTERN CREEK
7 March 2007
West Coast Racing’s Glenn McNally endured a tough introduction to Eastern Creek for Round 2 of the V8 Ute Series after being bogged down with engine issues that prevented him from mounting any serious challenge to the time sheets in today’s two practice sessions.
McNally who had his first taste of the Sydney circuit today suffered from an undetermined issue that caused the engine to rev no further than 5000rpm. This in turn stifled his straight line speed.
“It was really frustrating out there because, while the car was fast in some sections, the limited revs made it impossible to post a respectable time,” McNally said.
West Coast Racing’s team engineers will work on the issue and have the car ready for tomorrow’s important qualifying session.
“Once we get this problem sorted out I am confident of moving up the field tomorrow,” he said.
“At least I got quite a few laps under my belt today which was extremely helpful since I have not raced around this circuit before.”
The West Australian finished 7th in his V8 Ute Series debut at Phillip Island last year and placed 18th in the 2008 opener at the Clipsal 500 two weeks ago.
Being new to the Series and never having raced on any of the tracks before McNally is looking to gain momentum as the series progresses.
Tomorrow’s action includes qualifying at 10:30am and Race 1 at 2:25pm.
