MCNALLY READY FOR WAKEFIELD V8 FINALE’
2 APRIL 2008

Mark McNally heads to Wakefield Park this weekend for Round 2 of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series with confidence after a successful test this week at Winton Raceway.

The meeting will be the last V8 Supercar event at the NSW venue.

The West Australian put in around 100 laps of the country Victorian circuit in a bid to tune more speed in preparation for the Wakefield event.

“It was a good day for us today,“ Mark said.

“We were able to work our way through a series of changes and get some positive response from the car.”

Despite having limited tyres to use Mark put in some of his fastest laps at the circuit.

“We were not far off our qualifying time from the Winton round last year,” he said.

“That was a pretty good result considering it was just a test day and the grip levels were down.”

Wakefield Park has just been resurfaced and will provide a different set of challenges for both drivers and engineers.
“The resurface means that there will be less bumps in the circuit than normal,” Mark said.

“We can set the car up more closely to perform around the track rather than to cope with the bumps.”

Mark currently sits 10th in the Series after a conservative run at the opening round but is looking to push well into the top ten this weekend.

“I probably have not had a better lead up to a round yet,” he said.

“It is easy to go into this round with confidence but the competition is extremely tough in this series at the moment.

“We have three drivers who have come from the main-game and plenty of others with good experience and equipment.

“If all goes well I should be somewhere in the top 5 but there is a lot of work ahead to achieve that.

“The focus needs to be on my driving and making sure the car is fast then the results will take care of themselves.”

Mark hits the track on Saturday at 9.30am for Practice 1, 12.00pm for Practice 2 with qualifying at 3.00pm.  3 Races will be held on Sunday.
